South India drove 58% of India’s whisky sales in FY25, led by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, despite national decline.
South India accounted for 58% of India’s IMFL whisky sales in FY25, with Karnataka leading at 17% and Tamil Nadu at 16%.
The region sold 23.18 crore cases, driven by strong performance in premium segments despite a national sales decline of 1.4% to 40.17 crore cases, partly due to election-related disruptions and policy changes.
Karnataka and Tamil Nadu maintained top positions, while Telangana and Andhra Pradesh each contributed around 9%.
Puducherry saw 10% growth, and the southern region grew nearly 1%.
Uttar Pradesh led the north with 6% growth, Maharashtra in the west reported 4% growth, and West Bengal in the east grew 4%.
Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir saw declines.
The industry noted robust premium segment growth but faces challenges from high taxes, policy instability, and delayed payments.
