A Mississippi deputy was shot in the shoulder during a warrant raid; suspect fled, fired, and was wounded in return.
A Stone County deputy was injured in a shooting Sunday morning while serving a misdemeanor warrant at a home on Carl Taylor Road in Wiggins, Mississippi. After making contact with the suspect, an unrelated individual inside the residence fled and opened fire, hitting the deputy in the shoulder. The deputy returned fire, injuring the individual in the leg. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, with findings to be sent to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. No other deputies were harmed.
