Manikanta Hoblidhar won the men’s 100m at the National Open Athletics Championships in Ranchi with a time of 10.19 seconds, the second-fastest in Indian history, just 0.01 seconds shy of the national record.
Despite wet track conditions, he outpaced Pranav Gurav and Harsh Raut, improving his personal best.
The 24-year-old, who has had a standout year with national records and international medals, remains focused on the 2026 Asian Games.
The event was marred by injuries: high jumper Gobika K. suffered a serious knee injury and was hospitalized, while sprinter Abinaya Rajarajan collapsed after aggravating a groin issue.
Rajesh Ramesh won the men’s 400m in 45.75 seconds, Manav R. took 110m hurdles gold in 13.97 seconds, and Sneha S.S. edged Sudeshna Shivankar and Abinaya in a close women’s 100m finish.
