A £4.3 million cross-border initiative funded by the EU, UK, Ireland, and Northern Ireland has awarded grants to five peacebuilding projects, including the BRAVE programme, which received £718,000 to empower women by addressing paramilitarism, coercive control, and gender-based violence.
Led by the Training for Women Network with partners including the Bloody Sunday Trust and Glencree Centre for Peace, BRAVE will train 550 women in leadership and community dialogue, with support from the PSNI.
Other projects focus on public service reform, social impact measurement, leadership development, and environmental cooperation.
Officials from both governments and Stormont highlighted the funding’s role in strengthening community resilience, advancing peace, and fostering cross-border collaboration to tackle interconnected social challenges.
