Kondareddypally, India’s second fully solar-powered village, now generates surplus energy, cuts bills, and earns income through solar exports.
Kondareddypally in Telangana has become South India’s first fully solar-powered village and India’s second, with 514 homes and 11 government buildings powered by solar energy.
Each of 480 homes has a 3 kW rooftop system, generating about 360 units monthly, eliminating electricity bills and enabling surplus power sales at ₹5.25 per unit.
The village earned nearly ₹5 lakh in September from grid exports.
Funded at ₹10.53 crore through central subsidies, CSR contributions, and infrastructure investment, the project was completed in six months with community involvement.
It supports energy independence, carbon reduction, and rural income growth, serving as a model for sustainable development.
