India’s first bullet train line, from Surat to Bilimora, will open in 2027, with construction on track.
The Surat to Bilimora section of India’s Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, the country’s first bullet train corridor, is set to open in 2027, according to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who inspected progress in Surat on September 27, 2025.
The 508-kilometer corridor has seen major construction milestones, including over 300 kilometers of viaducts, nearly 400 kilometers of piers, and extensive bridge and tunnel work.
The Surat station, located in Antroli village, is being built with modern amenities, accessibility features, and a diamond-inspired design reflecting the city’s industry.
It will integrate with local transport and include sustainable elements like rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient lighting.
Advanced technologies, including high-speed rail turnouts and noise barriers, are being used to support safe, fast travel.
