Hamad and Shenzhen airports signed a sister agreement to boost air, economic, and tech ties between Qatar and China.
Hamad International Airport in Doha and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport have signed a Sister Airport agreement to strengthen aviation, economic, and technological ties between Qatar and China.
The deal, finalized at Routes World 2025 in Hong Kong, aims to boost passenger and cargo connectivity, share market insights, and advance route planning and technology.
Both airports, located in innovation-driven global hubs, already maintain strong air links, with Hamad serving nine Chinese cities and over 1.1 million Chinese passengers traveling through Doha from January to August 2025.
Shenzhen Airlines launched thrice-weekly flights to Doha in October 2024, and Qatar Airways is expanding its codeshare partnership with China Southern Airlines, adding shared flights to multiple global destinations.
The collaboration supports Qatar’s strategy to enhance its role as a key aviation and logistics hub connecting Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.
