A 19-year-old from Florence County was charged with lottery fraud after stealing and trying to cash 10 scratch-off tickets.
Germeane Roshelle Burgess, 19, of Florence County, has been charged with lottery fraud, including intent to defraud and counterfeiting game tickets, after allegedly stealing 10 scratch-off lottery tickets from a Circle K in Johnsonville on September 1, 2025, and attempting to cash them for $171 at a nearby store.
Surveillance video captured the theft, and the South Carolina Education Lottery requested a SLED investigation.
Burgess was booked into the Florence County Detention Center, and the case will be prosecuted by the 12th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
