A Kingston woman’s 20-year-old kayak, stolen three years ago, was recently found for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Susan Young, an avid paddler, recognized her distinctive red and yellow Tempest kayak by its unique hatch cover, ropes, and scratches from Georgian Bay. After contacting the seller with no response, she reported the sighting to police, who initially hesitated due to the absence of a serial number—unusual, as most kayaks have one engraved on the hull. The case remains under investigation, highlighting challenges in recovering stolen recreational equipment.
