Uhuru Kenyatta returns to lead Jubilee Party conference, aiming to unify and restructure ahead of 2027 elections.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has returned to a leadership role at the Jubilee Party, chairing a pivotal Special National Delegates Conference in Nairobi, attended by over 1,200 delegates.
The event, following a June 2024 High Court ruling that reinstated Kenyatta and key officials after a factional challenge, aims to restore unity, review the party’s constitution and policies, and chart its future direction.
The party is expected to exit the Azimio coalition, with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i emerging as a leading presidential candidate for 2027.
The conference, seen as a turning point for the party’s revival, also addressed leadership disputes and reaffirmed internal procedures, with Kenyatta and other top leaders present.
