Three former Mayflower High School staff convicted of historic child sex offences, with no links to student abuse during employment.
Three former teachers at Mayflower High School in Billericay—Lee Brumby, Thomas Rodgers, and Craig Keane—were convicted of historic child sexual offences after working at the school in 2012.
Brumby, a former headteacher, received a 16-year sentence for raping a child, while Rodgers and Keane were jailed for assaulting young boys in the 1990s and 2016, respectively.
Essex County Council stated the offences did not involve students or occur during their employment, and the school’s safeguarding measures were upheld.
Investigations into the three men are not linked, and all were arrested after leaving the school.
The school said it acted swiftly upon allegations and continues to prioritize student safety.
