Telangana's Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt.
N Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized research, exports, and infrastructure to maintain the state’s status as India’s top seed producer during the Hyderabad Seed Conclave 2025.
He called seed companies “nation-builders,” highlighting their role in food security and farmer income, and praised Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao for driving record crop production, including Telangana becoming the leading paddy-producing state since late 2023.
Reddy urged innovation in high-yield rice varieties and noted growing international demand, with seeds already exported to the Philippines and planned shipments to Indonesia, South Africa, and African nations.
He pledged government support, citing the Seedmen Association’s 30-year role in advancing seed production through training, compliance, and coordination with research institutions, and reaffirmed commitment to strengthening rural economies and the sector’s global reputation.
