Taiwan’s minimum monthly wage will rise to NT$29,500 ($967) and the hourly rate to NT$196 starting January 1, 2026, marking the 10th straight year of increases, according to the Ministry of Labor.
The 3.2% hike follows a review considering economic growth and inflation, with a projected 2025 GDP of 4.45% and CPI rise of 1.76%.
Labor groups sought a 4% increase to better match living costs and economic gains, expressing concern over U.S. tariffs potentially influencing the decision.
The final approval rests with the Executive Yuan.
The adjustment is the second under President Lai Ching-te, continuing a trend of annual increases.
