Starting late 2026, UK and non-EU travelers need ETIAS approval for Spain and 29 other European countries.
UK and other non-EU travelers will need an ETIAS authorization to visit Spain and 29 other European countries starting in late 2026, following Brexit.
The electronic system, similar to the US ESTA, requires online registration, personal details, and a fee—initially 7 euros but now 20 euros, with exemptions for children under 18 and travelers over 70.
The authorization, valid for three years or until passport expiry, allows multiple short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
It aims to enhance border security by screening travelers in advance and will apply to most Schengen Area countries plus Iceland, Norway, and Switzerland.
While rollout began in 2025, full implementation is expected by late 2026, with a grace period before enforcement.
Most applications are approved automatically.
A partir de finales de 2026, los viajeros del Reino Unido y de fuera de la UE necesitarán la aprobación de ETIAS para España y otros 29 países europeos.
