Paul Sultana was convicted of killing his former partner, Dayna Isaac, in Jan. 2023 after a controlling relationship, with evidence including DNA and arson.
Paul Jason Sultana, 35, was convicted of murdering mother-of-two Dayna Isaac in January 2023 after a turbulent relationship marked by jealousy and control. Following the NSW Supreme Court verdict, Sultana stabbed himself in the left arm and was rushed from the courtroom on a stretcher, bloodied and sobbing. Court testimony revealed he moved belongings into Isaac’s Penrith apartment against her wishes, was seen leaving with a green Woolworths bag after a neighbor heard a violent altercation, and later set her car ablaze in bushland. Forensic evidence, including Sultana’s DNA on Isaac’s clothing and a cord found at the scene, supported the conviction. Despite claiming he was asleep and unaware, Justice Peter Garling rejected his alibi and dismissed his explanation for destroying evidence. Sultana’s mother testified she saw blood and Isaac’s body at the apartment before fleeing in fear. The victim’s family called the verdict a victory, and Sultana is expected to be sentenced later in 2025.
