Nigeria’s Ministry of Interior promoted 16 senior officers across four paramilitary agencies—Immigration Service, Correctional Service, Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Fire Service—based on merit, seniority, and performance in independent exams.
The ceremony, led by Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, marked the third round of reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which has promoted over 52,000 personnel since 2023.
Reforms include salary increases, special allowances, life pensions for retirees, and modernization efforts like centralized passport processing and new fire academy construction.
The government aims to end decades of career stagnation and favoritism, emphasizing transparency and performance-based advancement.
Officers were urged to lead with integrity, drive institutional improvement, and serve as role models in national security, correctional reform, and infrastructure protection.
