A new stadium and mixed-use district will replace Hawaii’s old Aloha Stadium, opening in 2029 with no taxpayer cost.
The New Aloha Stadium Entertainment District in Halawa is advancing with key contracts signed, allowing demolition of the old stadium to begin in late September 2025 and conclude by July 2026.
A new 22,500-seat multipurpose stadium, expandable to 45,000, will open in 2029, funded by a $350 million state appropriation with no additional taxpayer cost.
The project, led by Aloha Halawa District Partners, includes 73 acres of mixed-use development with housing, shops, and entertainment spaces.
The University of Hawaii’s football team will return to the site, and the venue will host concerts and major events.
Revenue from real estate and operations will cover costs, and the stadium will be returned to the state after 30 years of private operation.
