A Kentucky woman was indicted for firing at federal officers during a raid, with no injuries reported.
A 30-year-old Perry County woman, Ashley Lewis-Begley, was indicted on four counts of attempted murder of federal law enforcement officers and one count of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence following an incident on September 24 in Hazard, Kentucky.
During a joint operation to arrest her husband on a fentanyl-related charge, authorities say she fired at a law enforcement vehicle as officers were leaving her home, striking it but causing no injuries.
She complied with orders to drop her weapon, was taken into custody without further incident, and is being held without bond.
The Kentucky State Police are investigating the case, which remains ongoing.
If convicted, she faces up to 20 years per attempted murder charge and a potential life sentence on the firearm charge.
She appeared in federal court on September 25.
