A Karachi butcher died from tick-borne CCHF, the sixth in Pakistan this year.
A 28-year-old butcher in Karachi died from Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), the sixth such death in Pakistan this year and the third in Karachi, according to health officials.
The man, who had contact with animals and ticks, developed high fever, bleeding, and severe symptoms, leading to his death after hospitalization.
Lab tests confirmed CCHF, a tick-borne virus with no vaccine, which spreads through infected animal blood or bodily fluids and can transmit between people.
Cases have been reported in Sindh province, including Karachi and Thatta, with previous deaths in June and July.
Health authorities are investigating exposure and urging protective measures for animal handlers and slaughterhouse workers.
