Jahmell Manso, 26, sentenced to 20 years to life for fatally shooting Davyjian Grier in a July 2024 Albany shooting.
Jahmell Manso, 26, was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for fatally shooting 21-year-old Davyjian Grier during a July 9, 2024, shooting in Albany’s City Square Plaza parking lot. The attack, captured on video, occurred after a dispute between strangers, with Manso chasing Grier’s vehicle across Delaware Avenue and firing 13 shots before the car crashed. Grier died from multiple gunshot wounds; two children and a woman in the vehicle survived unharmed. Manso fled but was arrested in Virginia in December 2024 with help from the U.S. Marshals Service. During the May 2025 sentencing, Grier’s family shared emotional victim impact statements, expressing grief and trauma. Judge William Little emphasized the senseless violence, the danger to bystanders during rush hour, and the lasting pain for the family, noting Manso waived his right to appeal.
