Chilean artist Alfredo Jaar has won the 2025 Prix Pictet for his haunting series "The End," documenting Utah’s Great Salt Lake, which has lost 73% of its water and 60% of its surface area since the mid-1800s due to water extraction.
His photographs capture the lake’s decline, exposing toxic dust and revealing both ecological devastation and unexpected beauty.
The award, focused this year on the theme “Storm,” highlights climate change impacts and social upheaval through 12 shortlisted works.
These include images of extreme weather, political unrest, and environmental collapse, aiming to cut through public numbness and inspire action.
The exhibition runs at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum through October 19, 2025.
