Virginia will issue tax rebates up to $400 for joint filers, with payments starting October 15, if returns were filed by November 3, 2025.
Virginia taxpayers may receive rebates up to $200 for individuals or $400 for joint filers this fall, announced Governor Glenn Youngkin, if they had 2024 tax liability and filed by November 3, 2025. Eligible filers who submitted returns before July 1, 2025, will receive payments by October 15, with all rebates issued by month’s end. Payments will be sent via direct deposit or paper check. If a taxpayer owes state or local debts, the rebate will first offset that amount, with remaining funds sent separately or a letter explaining the use if the debt exceeds the rebate. Starting September 25, 2025, individuals can check eligibility at tax.virginia.gov/rebate. The rebates are part of a broader effort to return surplus state revenues to residents.
