Vande Bharat train service to extend from Katra to Jammu, improving travel and connectivity in Kashmir.
The Vande Bharat train service, currently operating between Katra and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, is set to extend to Jammu railway station, officials announced on September 25, 2025.
The expansion, delayed by flood and rain damage, is progressing with track restoration underway and safety clearances pending.
Once launched, the daily service will offer faster, modern rail travel for pilgrims, tourists, students, and traders, improving connectivity between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley.
The route includes the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River, the country’s first cable-stayed Anji Khad bridge, and numerous tunnels through the Himalayas.
The extension aims to reduce travel time and boost regional tourism and economic activity.
