Singapore's mid-career training boost saw 36,000+ claim $24M in credits, with 55% of trainees finding jobs.

Over 36,000 Singaporeans aged 40 and above used a $4,000 SkillsFuture credit top-up from May 2024 to April 2025, with claims exceeding $24 million, marking a sixfold rise in participation. Enrollment in the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme surged from 1,500 to 8,500, and about 55% of previously unemployed trainees found jobs within six months. The new Mid-Career Training Allowance, launched in May 2025, saw over 3,200 applications and $30 million disbursed by July. The government avoids promoting unnecessary postgraduate qualifications, focusing instead on practical reskilling aligned with industry needs, while expanding the Level-Up programme to include part-time training from early 2026.
