The launch pad displayed burn patterns consistent with a solid-fuel missile launch, including blast deflector marks, and a rocket contrail was seen in Iranian social media posts that day.
Iranian parliament member Mohsen Zanganeh claimed on state television that Iran tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), but provided no evidence, and the claim remains unverified.
ICBMs typically exceed 5,500 kilometers in range, far beyond Iran’s stated 2,000-kilometer limit.
The test comes amid regional tensions following a 12-day conflict with Israel and as the U.N. prepares to reimpose sanctions over Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran has used the site before to launch the Zuljanah missile, a solid-fuel vehicle capable of reaching space, raising concerns about dual-use capabilities.
The U.S. Central Command did not comment.
