A fact-finding committee in Nigeria’s Plateau State reports that over 11,000 people have died and 420 communities destroyed in two decades of violence, affecting 13 local government areas. Chaired by Major General Nicholas Rogers (rtd), the panel, formed in May 2025, found no single ethnic group responsible, rejecting claims that Fulani herders were to blame. The confidential report, submitted to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, calls for unity, restraint, and political will to implement lasting solutions. Rogers urged community leaders to prevent youth from taking revenge, emphasized reporting incidents to authorities, and called for disarmament and peacebuilding. The League of Northern Democrats stressed secure, monitored negotiations and stronger civilian protection in any talks, while praising electoral transparency and urging Northern governors to prioritize security and development.
