Indian actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has earned his first International Emmy nomination for Best Actor for his role as Punjabi folk legend Amar Singh Chamkila in the Netflix biopic *Amar Singh Chamkila*, directed by Imtiaz Ali.
The film, released April 2024, portrays Chamkila’s rise from a Dalit Sikh background to fame as a controversial, influential singer known for bold lyrics, before his assassination at 27.
Co-starring Parineeti Chopra and featuring music by A.R.
Rahman, the film also received a nomination in the Best TV Movie/Mini-Series category.
Dosanjh is now competing against international actors including David Mitchell, Oriol Pla, and Diego Vasquez.
The 2025 International Emmy Awards, set for November 24 in New York, highlight the global reach of non-English content, following past Indian wins like *Delhi Crime* and Vir Das’s comedy special.
