A few WA voters got flawed postal ballots before Oct. 18 elections; errors being fixed.
A small number of Western Australian voters received incorrect, incomplete, or improperly printed postal ballots ahead of the October 18 local government elections, prompting the state’s electoral commission to correct errors and replace affected packages.
Issues included ballots for wrong wards, pre-sealed envelopes, and unclear return addresses, attributed to human error rather than systemic failure.
The commission, led by acting commissioner Dennis O’Reilly, is working with suppliers and local governments to ensure all voters can cast their ballots securely.
These problems follow criticism of the March 2025 state election, which faced long queues and ballot shortages.
Voters are urged to check their materials and contact the WAEC helpline or website if they find discrepancies.
