Deputy Fire Chief Michael Dyer, 63, of Comstock Township, Michigan, has pled no contest to operating while intoxicated causing serious injury after a June 22, 2025, crash that seriously injured 11-year-old La'Shae Parker on H Avenue. Authorities say Dyer had consumed multiple drinks before driving and registered a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. The girl sustained injuries requiring surgery and ongoing therapy. Dyer, who was on administrative leave, will serve probation without jail time, per prosecutors’ recommendation and the victim’s family’s approval. The case drew public attention due to his position in the fire department.
