Cupra is ending the Ateca in Australia by year-end 2025, replacing it with the new Terramar SUV.
The Cupra Ateca, launched in 2018 as the brand’s first model, will be retired in Australia by year-end 2025, with remaining stock of 65 units to be cleared over six months.
Based on the Seat Ateca and sharing its platform with the Skoda Karoq, the Ateca offered petrol engines from 110kW to 221kW, with a lower-priced variant reducing the entry point by $10,000.
Despite its sporty tuning and value, it consistently underperformed in sales, outsold by the smaller Formentor and Karoq.
It is being replaced by the newer, larger Terramar SUV, built on a more advanced MQB evo platform and offering mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options—features absent in the Ateca.
The Terramar starts at $58,490 drive-away, slightly above the Ateca V’s $51,990.
