Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh CM, arrested in ₹2,500 crore liquor scam linked to alleged syndicate and corruption.
Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has been arrested in connection with a liquor scam involving over ₹2,500 crore, with allegations of a syndicate operating during the Congress government’s tenure.
The Enforcement Directorate and Anti-Corruption Bureau are investigating claims of corruption, bribes, and market manipulation in liquor distribution.
Chaitanya, already in judicial custody since July, was re-arrested and remanded until October 6.
The case, which involves multiple officials and alleged high-level collusion, has drawn public and political scrutiny.
The High Court denied him anticipatory bail, citing risks to the investigation.
While the ED alleges he led the syndicate and handled nearly ₹1,000 crore in illicit funds, he has not been named in ACB/EOW charge sheets.
His legal team denies the charges, calling them politically driven.
The probe remains ongoing.
