flag Campbell Dickson banned from director roles for four years after company failed with £400K+ VAT debt.

Campbell Dickson, 58, former director of Caledonian Skye Ltd, operator of The Portree Hotel on the Isle of Skye, has been banned from serving as a company director for four years after his firm collapsed owing over £400,000 in unpaid VAT. The company entered liquidation in June 2023 with only £133,654 paid of £574,238 in VAT due between May 2022 and May 2023. Dickson previously led two other companies that also failed with substantial unpaid tax debts to HMRC, totaling over £1.7 million. The Insolvency Service found him responsible for a pattern of financial mismanagement and failure to meet tax obligations. The ban, effective September 24, 2025, prohibits him from managing or forming companies without court approval. The Portree Hotel is now operated by a different company, and Dickson resigned as director in May 2023. Authorities emphasized the importance of directors fulfilling their legal duty to pay taxes, which support public services.
