A UK man serving time for murder was convicted in absentia for his dog’s attack on two girls, banned for life from owning dogs.
Ezaan Hussain, serving a 20-year, 353-day sentence for murder, has been found guilty in absentia of two charges related to his Dutch Shepherd, Zeus, which attacked two girls in a neighbor’s garden on February 16, 2024.
The dog jumped an 8-foot fence and lunged at the girls, causing them to scream and require hospital treatment.
Hussain, 22, appeared via video link from HMP Leicester during a hearing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where he admitted to owning a dog that caused injury while dangerously out of control.
The court heard that Hussain lived with his family in two adjacent homes on Chaplin Road in Normacot, and that concerns about Zeus’s behavior had been raised by neighbors.
As part of the sentence, Hussain has been banned for life from owning dogs.
