Supreme Court orders NIA to reveal Shabir Ahmed Shah’s custody in 24 cases amid bail plea.
The Supreme Court has ordered the NIA to disclose Shabir Ahmed Shah’s custody status in approximately 24 other criminal cases, including a terror funding case, while hearing his bail plea.
The court, comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and N V Anjaria, directed the NIA to file a counter affidavit within four weeks, following the Delhi High Court’s June 12 rejection of bail.
The high court had cited risks of witness tampering and Shah’s role as chairman of the banned JKDPF, alleging he raised funds via hawala and LoC trade to support separatist activities and glorify militants.
The Supreme Court had previously denied interim bail on September 4.
The matter is set for hearing on October 31.
