Rapper Sean Kingston, 35, and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, were ordered to pay $38,500 in restitution after being convicted in a federal fraud scheme involving about $1 million.
Both were found guilty in March on charges including conspiracy and wire fraud.
From April 2023 to March 2024, Kingston used social media to promise promotional exposure in exchange for luxury items like a bulletproof Escalade, watches, and a large LED TV, but sent fake wire transfer receipts and never paid.
Victims often had to sue or report the fraud to recover funds.
The pair were arrested in May 2024 during a raid on Kingston’s Florida mansion and a separate arrest at a California military base.
Kingston received a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence and three years of probation, while Turner was sentenced to five years.
Both are currently incarcerated at a federal detention center in Miami, and part of Kingston’s future income will be used to repay the restitution.
