The New Zealand Food Network, the country’s largest food charity, delivered over 51,000 meals to those in need during its fifth birthday campaign, supported by donations of 14,050kg of food and $41,000 in cash.
The food, including meat, dairy, produce, hygiene items, and pet food, was distributed through 65 regional hubs to over 2,000 frontline organizations.
Additional purchases at discounted rates added another 9,025kg of essential items.
The effort highlights ongoing food insecurity amid rising living costs, with the charity relying on government funding and public support to reduce waste and ensure access to nutritious food.
