Maharashtra allocates ₹1,339 crore in relief to farmers hit by excessive 2025 monsoon rains, with major damage in Hingoli, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv.
The Maharashtra government has announced a ₹1,339 crore relief package for farmers affected by excessive monsoon rains between June and August 2025, with the largest share going to farmers in Hingoli, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv districts where over 8.48 lakh hectares of crops were damaged.
Funds will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts via direct benefit transfers, based on completed panchnamas, though assessments for ongoing rains are still pending.
The state has also approved a larger ₹2,215 crore aid package, with ₹1,829 crore already disbursed.
While the government emphasizes timely support for crop, house, and livestock losses, opposition leaders and farmers have criticized the aid as insufficient, calling for higher compensation and faster disbursement, with demands for a ₹10,000 crore central relief package and recognition of a "wet drought."
Flooding from heavy rains, especially between August 18 and 21 and again from September 20 to 23, caused fatalities, widespread damage, and transport disruptions, prompting evacuations and relief operations.
