Crime data from Ireland's Central Statistics Office for Q2 2025 shows a 17% rise in sexual offences to 3,881 cases, along with 4% increases in assaults, threats to murder, and weapons offences, and a 6% rise in public order offences.
However, homicide and related crimes dropped 42%, kidnapping fell 16%, and robbery, extortion, and hijacking declined 14%, especially in the south and east.
Burglary and fraud offences also decreased by 7% and 6% respectively, while crimes against government and justice systems fell 6%.
The overall picture reflects mixed trends across different crime categories.
