The INDIA bloc unveiled a 10-point plan in Bihar to boost rights for Extremely Backward Classes ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.
The INDIA bloc, led by Congress and RJD, launched a 10-point "Ati Pichra Nyay Sankalp" in Patna ahead of the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, targeting the state’s 36% Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs).
The plan includes raising EBC reservation in local bodies to 30%, eliminating the 50% reservation cap, establishing an EBC Atrocities Prevention Act, and reserving 50% of government contracts under Rs 25 crore for marginalized groups.
It also proposes land allotments, reservation in private schools and institutions under Article 15(5), and a Reservation Regulatory Authority.
Rahul Gandhi criticized the Nitish Kumar government for exploiting EBCs as a vote bank, while the bloc emphasized constitutional rights and social justice.
The agenda is part of a broader campaign to mobilize marginalized voters.
