Gunnison Copper partners with Lunasonde to test new tech for finding critical minerals in Arizona, pending final agreements.
Gunnison Copper has signed a non-binding letter of intent with Lunasonde, a defense and mineral exploration tech startup, to evaluate Lunasonde’s airborne georadiotomography technology for exploring copper, critical minerals, and rare earth elements in Arizona’s Cochise Mining District.
The collaboration aims to detect subsurface mineral deposits beneath challenging alluvial cover using advanced remote sensing, with potential support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s ROCKS Program.
Gunnison will provide access to its land holdings and existing resources, including its Gunnison Copper Project, which holds over 831 million tons of measured and indicated resources.
The project remains subject to definitive agreements, funding approval, and other conditions.
The preliminary economic assessment includes inferred resources not yet economically viable.
The initiative supports broader efforts to strengthen domestic supply chains for critical materials essential to energy and national security.
