A gas cylinder explosion at a shop in Mumbai’s Kandivali East on September 24, 2025, triggered a fire that injured seven people, including six women and one man, with severe burns.
The incident occurred at 9:05 a.m. in a single-storey shop in Ram Kisan Mestri Chawl near Akurli Maintenance Chowki.
Three victims sustained burns covering nearly 90% of their bodies, while others had injuries ranging from 40% to 85%.
Emergency services responded quickly, extinguishing the fire by 9:33 a.m.
The victims were treated at ESIC Hospital, with several transferred to Kasturba Hospital for specialized care.
The cause is under investigation, but a gas leak is suspected, possibly linked to faulty electrical wiring.
No fatalities were reported.
A separate fire in Kurla West caused no injuries.
