Eni and Seri Industrial launch joint venture to build a large lithium battery plant in Italy, aiming for 8 GWh annual output and 10% of Europe’s stationary battery market.
Eni and Seri Industrial have launched Eni Storage Systems, a joint venture to build a large-scale lithium iron phosphate battery facility in Brindisi, Italy, producing over 8 gigawatt-hours annually of water-based stationary batteries.
The project, in the engineering phase with assessments due by Q1 2026, will manufacture cathode materials and assemble Battery Energy Storage Systems, supporting operations in Teverola.
Part of Eni’s sustainability-focused industrial transformation, the site may later include battery recycling for broader industry use.
The venture aims to capture over 10% of the European stationary battery market.
Eni and Seri Industrial shares rose slightly on the announcement.
