Army officer Andrew Kraus, son of Mission BBQ co-founder, died in a Sept. 17, 2025, training crash in Washington.
Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Kraus, 39, son of Mission BBQ co-founder Bill Kraus, was one of four U.S. Army soldiers killed in a helicopter crash near Tacoma, Washington, on September 17, 2025, during a training exercise.
The others killed were Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Cully and sergeants Jadalyn Good and Donavon Scott.
Kraus, a native of Sanibel, Florida, served with U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
His father co-founded Mission BBQ in 2009, a chain known for supporting veterans and first responders.
Governor Wes Moore expressed condolences, honoring the family and the restaurant’s service-oriented mission.
