Washington Parents Network files FTC complaint against Planned Parenthood, alleging unsafe, unapproved gender transition treatments for minors and seeking $1B in compensation.
The Washington Parents Network has filed a complaint with the FTC against Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho, alleging the organization profits from providing gender transition medications—like puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones—to minors for unapproved uses, claiming these drugs cause serious health risks including infertility, blood clots, and increased cancer risk.
The group argues the treatments are falsely marketed as "gender-affirming care," lack scientific support, and constitute irreversible harm, citing over 3,355 gender-affirming visits in 2024 and calling for a $1 billion victim compensation fund.
It also alleges Title IX violations and has filed separate complaints with the Department of Education and Justice.
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson plans to maintain funding through a 2027 Medicaid moratorium.
The FTC comment period ends September 26, with over 5,000 submissions.
Planned Parenthood has not responded to requests for comment.
