St. Mary’s County starts roadwork on Mattapany Road Sept. 29, with closures and delays expected for 30 days.
St. Mary’s County will begin roadway improvements on Mattapany Road from MD Route 5 to just past Saint Mary’s College on or about September 29, 2025, with work expected to last about 30 days and include road widening and paving.
Single-lane closures, signage, and traffic control measures will be in place, prompting drivers to expect delays and consider alternate routes.
Meanwhile, St. Mary’s County Public Schools is urging families to submit new meal benefit forms for the 2025-2026 school year, as current eligibility expires September 25 for Chesapeake Charter School students and October 2 for others.
Applications are available online or as paper copies from schools, and qualifying students may receive benefits including college fee waivers, dual enrollment access, discounted recreation fees, and reduced standardized test costs.
