Remcom won a NASA contract to boost wireless modeling for Artemis spacesuits and rovers using advanced simulation.
Remcom has won a NASA SBIR Phase I contract to improve wireless channel modeling for Artemis mission spacesuits and lunar rovers.
The project enhances Remcom’s Wireless InSite® 3D software to better simulate how complex, layered spacesuit materials affect antenna performance on the Moon.
Using Huygens surfaces, the tool will model near- and far-field antenna behavior around astronauts and lunar structures, improving predictions for device-to-device communication, including 3GPP sidelink.
Acceleration techniques will reduce simulation times by one to two orders of magnitude, enabling faster analysis of dynamic, non-line-of-sight scenarios.
The work supports reliable communication in challenging lunar terrain and builds on Remcom’s prior NASA collaborations.
Technologies developed are expected to benefit both space exploration and commercial wireless applications like wearables and on-body sensors.
