Ravichandran Ashwin may become first capped Indian male cricketer in Big Bash League, joining for 2025-26 season.
India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is set to make history as the first capped male Indian cricketer to play in the Big Bash League, with four Australian teams vying for his services ahead of the 2025-26 season.
If signed, he would become the first Indian international to join the BBL after retiring, following BCCI rules that permit retired players to participate in overseas T20 leagues.
The season begins December 14, 2025, and Ashwin’s potential move is possible through the BBL’s replacement player system, which allows teams to add overseas players if spots open.
He has already committed to the inaugural ILT20 auction in the UAE.
