Punjab industrialists, led by Minister Sanjeev Arora, contributed Rs 6 crore to Mission Chardikala, the state’s flood relief initiative launched September 17. The funds aid rehabilitation for families affected by floods that damaged 198,500+ hectares of farmland in districts including Gurdaspur, Fazilka, and Patiala, with losses estimated at Rs 13,800 crore. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann praised public resilience and urged citizens and Punjabis worldwide to donate via the official portal. As of September 15, 56 people died and over 700,000 were displaced, with severe damage to schools, health facilities, roads, and bridges. Arora personally donated Rs 50 lakh, alongside pledges from other business leaders.
