The North Millsboro Bypass, a 2.5- to 2.7-mile, $140 million project funded 80% by federal and 20% by state money, opened to traffic on September 25–26, 2025, after a delay due to rain.
Connecting U.S. Route 113 and State Route 24 near Millsboro, the two-lane roadway includes a dedicated, ADA-compliant path for pedestrians and cyclists and aims to reduce congestion on heavily used Route 113 and Route 24.
Officials say it improves safety, connectivity, and regional mobility, with future work planned to widen Route 113.
The bypass, part of a long-term effort, redirects traffic around downtown Millsboro and is expected to ease travel for drivers, bikers, walkers, and transit users.
