Mississippi State Auditor finds nonprofits misused state funds on salaries, unverified gifts, and perks.
Mississippi State Auditor Shad White's report alleges misuse of state funds by nonprofits including My Brother’s Keeper, 100 Black Men of Jackson, and the Juanita Sims Doty Foundation.
My Brother’s Keeper spent 55% of a $250,000 grant on salaries and administration, used nearly $7,000 on unverified gift cards, and allocated $45,000 to meal subscriptions, grocery cards, and gym memberships without proper documentation.
Other nonprofits faced scrutiny for unverified purchases and high executive compensation.
The findings will be sent to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office for review.
